St Michael's Parochial Church Council is a Notified Data Controller under the Data Protection Act 1998 for the purposes of:
  1. pastoral care
  2. accounts & records.
The Registration Number is Z4950869. To view the entry, click here and then choose Search Register.
Personal information is controlled by the PCC's Christian Stewardship Committee. Information is made available only to persons within the church in positions of responsibility with a 'need-to-know'.
Church members supply their details using a consent form. A blank form (50kb) is available to download in Adobe PDF format. (To view the document you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your PC. This can be downloaded free from www.adobe.com.) Completed forms should be signed, dated & returned to the box in the church.
The form is used, together with feedback from Area Contacts, to update the Church Contact List. The list is recompiled every five or six years, when all church members are asked to submit new forms.
The Church also maintains a Church Electoral Roll. Only those whose names appear on the Electoral Roll of a parish are entitled to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), to stand for election as a Churchwarden, a member of the Parochial Church Council, a Sidesman etc. The Church Electoral Roll is recompiled every six years and is updated annually, before the Annual Parochial Church Meeting APCM takes place in March/April. The maintenance of a Church Electoral Roll by every parish is a statutory requirement with its own specific regulations (refer to the Church Representation Rules - not available on-line). It is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
